I shot photographs of my sister Daisy, who is the main cover star, my two brothers who are used as 'poster stars' and put my camera on a self timer and shot some of myself so I would have more photographs to fill my main products up.
I used a variety of different poses so I could see what looked best when editing; fun, silly ones being the main theme as my magazine is a teen pop magazine so I wanted lively and fun pictures just like other magazines of the same genre.
The photograph I used on my main cover was 1041 as it was a fun pose, extremely good quality so could be stretched, centered in the middle so there was room for movement on my cover and a nice picture of Daisy.
I also used photographs 1145, 1146 of my brother to be the 'posters of a boy group' as they are pulling fun poses like boy bands would and they are fun photographs. I also used 1126 of myself as it fits the cover line I wanted to put with it, about fashion and I'm wearing a massive coat in the photograph.
On my double page spread I used 1040 as it was centered to the left of the page so left room for text, it fit in my cover photograph as she's wearing the same, it was fun and was nice and clear- this photograph was spread across the whole page and then placed behind the text which then fit around the main photograph. I also used 1081 smaller in the corner to add some more colour and variety into the double page spread as she was wearing a different outfit.
On my contents page I used a mini picture of my front cover as this is used on many of similar genre magazines, it also looks really effective as you can use arrows and point out what is on what page and adds colour to the contents page. I also used a picture of my brothers in the corner so there wasn't too many pictures of Daisy on the products, the photograph is 1147 and again is fun and poppy.
I really like my photographs, I edited them by bringing up the brightness, contrast and curves, editing out blemishes using the clone stamp tool and eraser and used the paint brush tool to make eyes stand out more and hair look nicer etc. by doing these adjustments I was left with clear, professional looking photographs which really bring my products together.
I have included these unedited photographs below:
