Audience Questionnaire Results and Analysis
My questionnaire was answered by 4 females and 1 male all between the ages of 16-18.
All of my responses chose more than one option on what music they listen to most, all 5 responses chose pop and chart(which is what my music magazine’s genre is) R&B and acoustic was chosen by 3, rock, indie and dance had 2 votes and blues and country had 1, metal hammer and classical had none. These votes show that my selected genre of music for my magazine fits with my target audience as my target audience is 13-17 all my responses fit into this category.
2 of my responses answered that they would pay £1-£1.50 on a music magazine and 2 responded £1.50-£2.50, the other answered £2.50-£3.50, this tells me that maybe my magazine- which was priced at £2.50 was priced too high, with it being out of 40%’s price range and at the end of 40%’s limit, however it is a glossy music magazine and it is only monthly, and with other magazines that are like mine such as We Love Pop and Top of the Pops being priced higher than my price it shows that mine is quite reasonable.
A picture of a well-known artist scored 100% on what would attract someone to buy a music magazine and another vote on bright colours, my magazine features bright colours however my cover star is branded as an ‘up and coming’ artist which could still attract people to buy it. What people would like to see in the magazine got a mix of responses, 2 for reviews, 2 for gig information, 1 for information on unknown artists and 3 for the latest music charts, the option with the most responses with 60% is what my magazine is based on.
YouTube and downloads on phone were what my responses listen to music on most, bright colours was the colours associated with pop and chart music most with 75% of the responses which is what I used on my music magazine, green and blues have 1 vote which are also used on my magazine.
100% of my responses said they would want to buy it more if it had discounts/vouchers; my magazine has a free competition in which you can win concert tickets. There was a mix of responses on how often they would want it to be available with 40% wanting it weekly, 20% fortnightly and 40% monthly, my magazine is monthly, I chose to do this so it would be easier to buy for my target audience as 13-17 year olds wouldn’t really be earning money so it’s easier for them to afford if its only monthly.
